Writing a Professional Bio 101

Is Your Professional Bio As Good As It Can Be?

Most professionals don’t even think about their bio unless they’re suddenly asked to come up with one. If you’ve experienced this scenario, you know what it feels like to scramble around trying to come up with those few great lines about yourself. In most cases, the rush usually ends up sounding pretty dry and unoriginal.

Not having an updated and cleanly-written bio at your fingertips is a big missed opportunity. That’s why, when I work with clients, one of the first things we focus on is their bio.

You may not need your bio very often, but when you do, you’ll be really glad that you have a great one. During my upcoming webinar, Writing a Professional Bio 101 on Friday, November 20th at 12:00 pm GMT, I’ll be sharing tips and advice for crafting a professional bio that captures attention, gets your points across, and makes you stand out from the rest.

Join me and take advantage of this opportunity to create some positive buzz about who you are and what you have to offer to the world!

Why Your Bio Matters More Than You Might Think

For potential employers, coworkers, journalists, and anyone else who comes across your name on the Internet, a professional bio is your chance to make a great first impression.

Are you having trouble thinking of where or when a bio might be important to have on hand? Consider this—your LinkedIn account, your website, your company’s website, your Facebook page, your Instagram page, your Twitter page, internal documents for your work or office could all benefit from a bio. Anywhere you exist on the Internet, your bio matters.

Just as you would with an in-person meeting, you don’t want to come off as dull, rude, or arrogant. You want to present yourself as professional, likable, and engaging. This, of course, is easier said than done, since writing about one’s accomplishments and achievements is a skill and can seem awkward and overwhelming.

Don’t worry, whether you feel like your bio could use a little brushing up, or a total overhaul, I’m here for you!
